Art tends to reflect certain attitudes of its historical moment. But how does it do this, when at any given time, people have such diverse views?
Imagine if you had to produce two works of art, in any medium. One was supposed to repesent a general, dominant, popular representation of humankind (interpreted any way you see fit.) The other was supposed to represent an oppositional / "unpopular" / protest-based representation of humankind.
What would those human images look like? What media would you choose, and how would you go about this assignment?
Please help with writing a paragraph response to this discussion!! I will give high rating! Thank you in advance.
Here Art means not only drawing, let us take all the forms of Art such as drama, dancing or any other form of Art which had evolved during historical period. Art has always been and is a popular medium for reflecting certain ideas which were in mind.
I would take example of drama over here. Let us take drama forms which were made during freedom fight of India. There were street plays, there were swadeshi movements, there were movements of boycotting english products. These plays were naturally very heroic, they made people aware the importance of the own independence, the importance of coming out and protesting for yourself. Let us take picture of Shivaji Maharaj and his fightings, pictures drawn at that period of time, Shivaji was shown as proud warrior who fought against Mughals, his picture is fighting was always shown with horse and sword in one hand.
Let us take now unpopular art forms. In around 1990, there was very unpopular photo of show casing Bata - shoes advt in India. In this a couple was shown wearing only shoes and hugging each other with snake around. This advt was condemned and there was big protest against this advt. In country like India, such advt are totally not accepted.
