Answer #1

Example of two unrelated attitudes:

  • I dislike spiders.
  • Swimming is a good exercise.

Example of related attitudes:

  • I enjoy drinking alcohol.
  • Alcohol consumption is bad for health.

In the example above, my attitudes are clearly dissonant. On one hand, I personally enjoy consuming alcohol from time to time. However, I am also aware of its ill-effects on my health. This dissonance is reflected in my behaviour to some extent. I tend to extert a personal control to limit how much I should be drinking in a week so that my health is not affected drastically. This is a theoretically expected outcome as cognitive dissonance should lead to a behavioural change to reduce the potential conflict between the attitudes.

Two birds traveling at right angle to each other, collide, and hold on to each other during collision. The two birds have masses 3.04 kg and 8.78 kg. The smaller bird is traveling with the speed 18.1 m/s, and the larger bird is traveling with the speed 15.98 m/s. What is the speed of the two birds after the collision, to two decimal places? Hint: you need to make an assumption about the birds' initial direction of travel.

The other was supposed to represent an oppositional / "unpopular" / protest-based representation of humankind. What would those human images look like? What...

As part of being in a rhetorical conversation, we discuss how you have to cite the sources you use. Not only do you have to cite them, but you have to understand sources to use them well. Then answer the following questions: 1) Make a list of the things Kantz says students don’t know, misunderstand, or don’t comprehend about how texts work. Judging from your own experience, do you think she is correct...

Give an example of a problem dealing with two possibly related variables (Y and X) for which a linear regression model would not be appropriate. For example, the relationship could be curved instead of linear, or there may be no significant correlation at all. What is the impact of using a linear regression model in this case? What options, other than linear regression, can you see? You do not need to collect any data. For your response to a classmate...
