Briefly describe and analyze a non-human primate's behavior you have observed...either in the wild, at a zoo, on a documentary, or in one of the videos we've watched for our class. What type of behavior would you categorize it as?
On a wild life documentary, I watched certain behaviors of Chimpanzees. Some group of Chimpanzees were trying to crack nuts using branches against the surfaces. Then I saw that a young chimpanzee was imitating the actions of older ones. After watching that video, I understood that the Chimpanzees has a complex behaviour and some times similar to humans. Many mental traits of the Chimpanzees are similar to humans, like reasoned thought, abstraction, symbolic representation, grief, creativity, modelling or mimic etc.
I think what I watched in documentary is an example of rational behaviour of a chimpanzee. Chimpanzee assumed that the branches against the flat surface can crack a nut. Then the context of imitating an older chimpanzee is an example of modelling and learning.
