This week you learned about childhood neurological disorders (autism, ADHD, Intellectual functioning, etc.) and those which arise in older age called neurocognitive disorders (Alzheimer's, Delirium, etc.). Unfortunately for most of these disorders, there is no cure. Two disorders in particular we can anticipate to see an increase are Alzheimer's and Autism. Both of these disorders are lifelong conditions.

For neurodevelopmental disorders, the number of children with autism has risen in the past decade. There may be a number of explanation for this phenomenon: better diagnosis, increase in the condition, etc. On the other end of the lifespan spectrum, as the babyboomer generation is getting closer to 65, we are seeing an increase in Alzheimer's Disease.

For this discussion posting, you will be assigned to investigate resources for Autism for children . Although many of you reside in Ventura County, I anticipate that some will reside in other counties.

Identify at least two resources that could help families care/treat patients with either Autism or Alzheimer's. You should be able to answer the following questions for your identified resources:

Name and area served for the resources

Paste their web page address if applicable

What are the qualification for the participants?

What costs are involved?

How long can families anticipate the help with their loved ones?

Any other pertinent information you find about these agencies.
