What are your views concerning the humanistic approach?
The Humanistic Approach supports the idea that human behavior is inherently goal directed. It is of the view that humans have an innate tendency to maximize their inner potential. I believe that the humanistic approach does a good job of explaining human strengths. It focuses on uniquely human attributes and does not view humans as a product of their environment or their unconscious thoughts. It acknowledges that humans have a degree of free will in their lives. Rather than providing a general outlook on human behavior, it focuses on personal strengths. However, the ideas of this approach have not been subject to much scientific testing. Critics argue that its concepts are vague and have not been operationally defined. Nevertheless, the approach has proven to be effective in therapeutic settings.
