Answer #1

Identity development refers to the the development of one's existence and worth as an independent self in the world. Erikson has stated it as one of the important stages in the psychosocial development of an individual.

Erikson has mentioned that identity is shaped by the experiences that an individual has in his/ her life. This make the process of identity continuous in nature as people have experiences throughout their lives.

Identity being a social construct, it keeps shaping according to the social situations and becomes a part of the individual's personality. Abes and Kasch (2007) exclaimed that individuals create and recreate their identity through their actions which are constantly shifting.
