Of the three main theoretical perspectives, which one would you prefer to use to study society if you were a sociologist? Why?
The three main sociological perspectives are:
1) Symbolic Interactionism
2) Functionalism
3) Conflict Theory
The perspective that would be helpful to study the present society is the Conflict Perspective of Karl Marx. This perspective focuses on the ever changing nature of society. It does a critical analysis of the society, which is very much required in today's changing situations because of various social agents.
The study of the rising inequalities, be it economical, racial, gender, religious, political and the constant competition is the need of the hour. It is only when these negative aspects of the society are focused upon, and studied through that humanitarian efforts and democracy can shine.
