Imagine that you have decided upon a New Year’s resolution to change something about yourself. Describe how you might apply behavioral principles to accomplish your goal. I have decided upon a New Year’s resolution to change something about myself; my shot tempered aggressive behavior. For this, I will apply the behavioral principle of positive and negative punishment to accomplish my goal as I am a high school student; who should be controlled by my parents to change my behavior. My parents can use an aversive method such as spanking to control my behavior or there can withdraw favors negative punishment to change me. Anything about my plan that would NOT be addressed by behaviorism includes changing my genetic makeup which predisposes me to aggressiveness.
