Briefly define ableism and explain how ableism manifests on an individual and institutional level.
Ableism refers to discrimination towards the disabled people. It remains invisible and is deeply engrained even in Governmental Institutions. Albeism can manifest itself on an individual level and at institutional level. At institutional level, we can see lack of facilities available for the disabled. We can see stairs everywhere, whereas they may require slopes or ramps for wheelchairs. People view the world as able-bodied and neglect the needs of the disabled people, eventually making them feel left out. They are deprived of opportunities, and are not involved in certain activities. This is the albeism at individual level. Unless there is someone at the house with disability, people do not think of making facilities for diabled people.
