In your opinion: Why do you think society places such a hard shaming on women's bodies as opposed to mens?
In my opinion, women face much more body shaming in comparison to men is because of an implicit assumption of associating women with objects of desire. In the animal kingdom, the onus is on the males to attract females; this they are evoluntionarily much more attractive than the females; for instance, Peacocks are much more colourful than Peahens. However, I feel that the opposite seems to be true for humans, where a woman has to beautify herself in order to be attractive enough to gather male attention. Since society has some rigid standards for defining beauty, including specifying what body types are deemed ‘desirable’, there is much more pressure on women to abide by these unsaid norms in order to prove her worth as an attractive ‘object’ to her male counterparts.
