Do you think severely mentally ill people retain any rights “to determine what shall be done with [their] own [bodies]?” Why or why not?
If you think in every mental illness case people should lose their rights to determine what shall be done to their own , then you are wrong because there are very rare case in which a person can lose his mental capacity and mental capacity is an ability to take decisions. There are various cases of mental illness such schizophrenia , depression , addictive behaviors and so on , in which person have hallucinations, suicidal thinking , mood disorders and in such cases person not able to take decisions on own . Therefore, in such cases or if a person is suffering from terminal mental illness which cannot be cured then the person lose the right to take decisions .
