Multiple relationships are also known as dual relationships within a professional setting.

Within ACA there is a sections that provides guidance with respect to handling dual relationships (which are other than that of non plutonic ones) and explains that a mental heth professional can go through role changes and can have casual interaction with a patient outside of the natural setting due to unavoidable circumstances, and in those they are expected to act with maturity and maintain confidentiality nonetheless.

With the Naadac code of ethics there is mentioned of the same dual relationship as well and the unavoidably of such relations and how they are delicate and a professional should be able to learn how to differentiate between the two interactions, that is, one which is informal and the other which is formal and professional.
