Recognition is one of the main component of memory , which means the 'ability to recognise the learned material from amongst many other present over there'. The topic of memory is fundamental in the field of psychiatry.

There are various types of illnesses related to memory,for example, Dementia, Amnesia, Delirium etc.

While in the process of treatment, assesment of memory and orientation is very important to make the diagnosis. The primary role as a doctor or clinician is to investigate the pateint with help of self-rating scales or screening instruments of memory that covered all the aspects of memory (Attention,oreintation,recall, recognition etc.).

Therefore, after making the diagnosis the role of doctor/clinician to prescribe medicine and suggest further therapeutic treatment required for the patient.
