Soren Kierkegaard is considered as the father of existentialism. Existentialism is a philosophical concept, which combines humans with will and consciousness in a world that is without these two factors. It denies the concept of god and upholds the principle of existence. This concept shows the way of becoming a hero to oneself , opposing religion, and connected factors. According to existentialism a person is free from laws of nature and can shape one's own nature and behavior. Existentialists consider the acts and deeds of a particular person are important. Existentialism has the following positive aspects; evaluation of values and beliefs, becoming familiar with one's limitations and potentials, realizing the purpose of life, and finding more creative ways of communication.

Professor Strecher's policy is somewhat similar to the concept of being free from the laws and shaping one's own nature. The idea of zero distinction between excused and unexcused absences hints to the concept of free from laws of nature .Likewise not allowing for late submission of work, without considering any reason also indicates the same theory. These two factors give the evidence for Professor's privilege , to ignore social rules and principles . Likewise, there are examples of the freedom of students. Not asking for class notes and reason for being absent hints the concept of freedom from social rules applicable to students also.

The concept of freedom from existing social rules and customs are evident from the policy of Professor Stretcher. It also highlights the concept of becoming familiar with one's powers and limitations ,finding numerous ways of communication ;not only by orally ,but also by actions and deeds.
