Answer #1

This is Kant's quote regarding Deontology. In this quote Kant argues that no human traits which are good that is intelligence, knowledge, wit etc, if they are used as means to produce good for some and causes bad for others, cannot be called good. This principle can be applied for all human virtues and qualities, except if they follows good for everybody, everytime and everywhere. Such goodness occurs only when there is a good will, that is human rational to do good, despite of it consequences.

Farmers can suffer from the weather in two different ways. First, bad weather can mean that particular farmers have little or nothing to send to market and therefore do not benefit greatly from the high prices earned by the lucky ones. Second, good weather that brings bumper crops may lead to such low prices (even if quantities are high) that profits are squeezed or eliminated.
