In your own words, how would society change if we knew the definitive “causes” of homosexuality? Would it increase understanding? Would it decrease discrimination or increase it?
Anything that we understand we fear less. The more the information we have about something the better we are able to understand it and it helps us to be more acceptable about that particular thing. SImilarly, althought we do have information about homosexuality and over a preiod of time we have moved from considering it a disorder in the DSM to understanding that it is an orientation and preferance similar to how a hetrosexual preference is, and that just because the number of people that identify with being hetrosexual is more, it does not make it a mainstream prefernce. That is homosexuality and heterosexuality can coexist side by side. however understanding the causes behind homosexuality may gives us a better understanding of it than we already know and this may help us not discriminate against.
