Answer #1
  • Traits combine to form three basic types oftemperaments:
  • Easy or flexible
  • Feisty or Spirited
  • Slow to warm up or cautious
  • The Flexible Child characteristics-
  • Laid-back, easy-going
  • As many as 40%of children are flexible
  • Typically have regular feeding and napping routines, are easily toilet trained, and are generally cheerful.
  • The Flexible Child seldom makes a fuss
  • Want attention from a caregiver, but may only communicate this need with an occasional glance or wave of the hand
  • A feisty child is a child that has a lot of energy, high activity level, and is fairly sensitive to stimulation.
  • The Feisty Child-About 10% of children fit into this category.
  • Tend to live with zest and let everyone know when they are pleased or displeased.
  • Tend to be intense and can sometimes be a handful.
  • The Fearful child-
  • Slow to warm up to their environment
  • Once comfortable, engaged in their environment.
  • The Fearful Child-About 15% of all children fall into this category
  • Need more time and attention to warm up to a new situation or to new people
  • Tend to adapt slowly and/or withdraw
  • Temparements are inborn and they stay with throughout our entire life.As adults,we learn to cope with or adapt to the temperament style. As adults, it is our responsibility to adapt our temperament to meet the needs of the children that we care for.Understanding temperament is the key to forming relationships.
  • Being an easy child would affect adult behaviour since as adults I would be able to adjust more easily to my environment.I will have a positive attitude towards life having this temperament. This would make it easy for me to face any new situation and be optimistic about it and show less intense or negative reactions and adapt positively.
  • Having the fiesty temparement would be make me more negative towards new situations,I would have adpatability problems and high emotional intensity as an adult.I wont be able to transition easily in my adult life from college to work place since new people and new situations would make me uncomfortable.
  • As a fearful child, not adpating to situations would be problem but with less intense reactions,I would be socially withdrawing from facing people and become a reclusive and shy person in my life.Unfamiliar people and situations will make me uncomfortable and I would be more isolated as an adult and more introvert.
