What is the slope of an F versus (1/n^2) graph?

The equation I'm supposed to determine it from is F= (4*density*f^2*L^2)*(1/n^2)

How would I also determine the slope from the graph given

n=1 F= 2.8

n= 2 F = 1.03

n= 3 F= .873

n=4 F=.469

n=5 F= .237

Answer #1

The given expression is

where,

So, the graph is a straight line passing through the origin.
And the slope cann be written in a more compact form

  1)
  for n = 1, F = 2.8, we have

2)
   for n = 2, F = 1.03, we have

3)
  for n = 3, F = 0.873, we have

4)
  for n = 4, F = 0.469, we have

5)
for n = 5, F = 0.237, we have

Using the calculated wavelength, plot a graph of 1/lambda vs. (1/2^2 - 1/N^2). Determine the Rydberg constant from the slope of the line. Please demonstrate using Excel how to plot the graph portion and demonstrate clearly on paper how to determine the Rydberg constant from the slope of the line (showing all steps in detail) Computed wavelengths for each spectral line; Yellow = 5.89x10^-7m Violet = 4.38x10^-7m Blue = 4.91x10^-7m Red = 6.78x10^-7m

Show that the series \sum_{n=1}^{\infty} 1/(x^2 + n^2) defines a differentiable function f: R -> R for which f' is continuous. I'm thinking about using Cauchy Criterion to solve it, but I got stuck at trying to find the N such that the sequence of the partial sum from m+1 to n is bounded by epsilon
