I have suggested plotting as a function of p, KE, 1/p and 1/KE to see if is directly propor- tional to any of them. Once you have your raw data, how can you immediately rule out two of these four possibilities and avoid drawing the graphs?
p and 1/p are reciprocal to each other, so, if the set of data is plotted against p and we got a straight line it means data is directly proportional to p and consequently inversely proportional to 1/p and as we have to check proportionality relation we can directly rule out plotting 1/p. The reverse is also true, that is, if graph of data Vs 1/p turn out to be a straight line it implies data is inversely proportional to p so that we can rule out plotting p curve. Same is true for the case of KE and 1/KE. Hence once we have the raw data we can directly rule out two choices and plot only for the remaining pair to get a proportionality check.
