A ham sandwich consists of one slice of ham (10 grams) and two slices of bread (25 grams each). You have 1 kg of ham and 1.2 kg of bread. You make as many sandwiches as you can. How many sandwiches did you make?

_______sandwiches

What is the mass of the sandwiches?_____ g

What is left over? ham /bread

What is the mass of the ingredient that is left over? . ________g

Homework Answers

Answer #1

we have total of 1000 g ham and 1200 g bread

one sanwich has 10 g ham and toal of 50 g of bread ( 25 g for each slice)

Therefore, we have 1000 g / 10 g = 100 slices of ham. and 1200 g / 25 g = 48 slices of bread

As each sandwich needs two slices, we will be able to make only 24 sanwiches

Therefore, number of sanwiches we can make is 24.

Mass of one sandwich = 10 + 2*25 = 60 grams

Therefore, mass of 24 sanwiches = 1440 g

what is left over ?

As we were able to make only 24 sandwiches and we had 100 slices of ham, so left over is ham ( 100 - 24 = 76 pieces of ham are left)

Mass of left over ingredient = 76*10 = 760 g

Project 5: Stoichiometry Stoichiometry is the study in which we determine the relative quantities of reactants and products in a balanced chemical equation. Although the two lines are exactly the same length, the vertical line appears to be much longer. This is a "robust" effect, meaning that even if you know that the lines are the same length and measure them yourself, the vertical one will still look longer. A researcher wants to know if this effect can be overcome with extensive training to correctly see the length of the lines. On average, the population estimate is that vertical lines are 20% longer--so...
