A car starts from rest, after 10 s the speed of the car is 25 m/s. What is the magnitude of the car's acceleration?
Solution:-
Given-
Speed – 25m/s
Time – 10s
Acceleration – In physics or physical science acceleration (symbol a) is defined as the rate of change (or derivative with respect to time) of velocity. It is thus a vector quantity. And its unit is m/s2
So the formula for magnitude of acceleration is,
Acceleration = Velocity / time
The most familiar kind of acceleration is a change in the speed of an object an object to that stays at the same speed but change direction however is also being accelerated.
In this problem the given quantity is speed so conceptually use the formula for magnitude of acceleration is,
Acceleration = Speed / time
Acceleration = 25m/s / 10s
Acceleration (a) = 2.5 m/s2
Magnitude of the car's acceleration is a = 2.5 m/s2
