Hello Buddy!

The degrees of freedom is an independent physical parameter and formal description of the state inside a physical system. The set of all the states of a system is known as its phase space, and the dimensions of the phase space is whats known as degrees of freedom.

Second part

Yes during 3D acceleration, degrees of freedom is a variable that can be adjusted independently. Any movement we make can be broken down into three categories. But if we move only forward, for instance, it doesn’t affect your left-right or up-down position. Thus it is safe to say, these three directions are independent of each other. There are three degrees of freedom. That’s why we refer to completely independent settings as being orthogonal.
