In an LRC series circuit, the components have the following Values: L=0.4 H, C=600 μF, R=200 Ω, V=30 V and frequency 1.5 kHz. Calculate the impedance of the circuit Calculate the maximum voltage across the resistor, the inductor and the capacitor

Homework Answers

Answer #1

given

inductance L = 0.4 H

capacitance c = 600*10^-6 F

resistance R = 200 ohm

capacitive reactance xc = 1/2pif*c = 1/2*3.14*1.5*10^3*600*10^-6

xc = 0.177 ohm

inductive reactance = xL = 2pif*L = 2*3.14*1.5*10^3*0.4 = 3768 ohm

impedance = z = sqrt(R^2+(xL-xc)^2)

z = 3773.1 ohm

from ohms law

v = i*resistance

i = v/z = 30/3773.1 = 7.95*10^-3 A

b) voltage across resistor

vR = i*R = 7.95*10^-3*200 = 1.59 V

voltage across inductor

vL = i*xl = 7.95*10^-3*3768 = 29.95 V

across capacitor

vc = i*xc = 7.95*10^-3*0.177 = 0.0014 V
