A world class runner can complete a 100 m dash in about 10 s. Past studies have shown that runners in such a race accelerate uniformily for a time, t, and then run at a constant speed for the remainder of the race. A runner visits your physics class. You are asked to develop a procedure that will allow you to determine the uniform acceleration =, a, and an approximate value of t for the runner in a 100 m dash By necessity your experiment must be done on a straight track and include your whole class of 11 students.

A) Design an experimentsal procedure that you could use to collect the necessary data, including all the equipment you will need. You may include diagrams and or equations as part of your description. Indicate what measurements you would take and how you would take them. Include enough details so that another student could carry out your procedure

Answer #1

by using the measuring tape, measure 10 students are positioned at poisitions

on a staightline mark the numbers, 10m, 20 , 30m etc ..upto 100m with

stop watches and gorund is marked (RACE START.

upon firing the gun by first student and at the same time all other students start thier Stopwatches

after travelling exacty for 10 secs, all of the them stop and stop simulatancously their stop watches.

first we calculate their velcoity and from that we get accleration .

Accelration then is obtained from a = (vf-vi)/(t2-t1)
