Does it take more or less work to move the block using the inclined plane? Does it take more or less force to move the block using the inclined plane?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Solution

If the block is placed in horizontal surface the work done

=> W = Force * displacement

Now if the block is placed on an inclined plane considering there is no friction force.

=> W = mgsin(theta) * displacment

as sin(theta) will have value less than 1 we can say there will be less work required

Same goes for force,

=> In normal lifting and moving the block F = mg

=> In plane (no friction) the force = mgsin(theta)

Hence the force will be also less.
