Alice ties a rope to a tree, stands 7.2 m away, and vibrates the rope up and down with 28 complete cycles in 5.0 seconds. The resulting standing wave pattern is shown in the diagram at the right. Use this information and the diagram to determine the amplitude, wavelength, frequency and speed.

Answer:

Here we need a diagram to solve the problem completly but I am trying to solve this question because I already knew about it. If you have any doubt feel free to ask me.

Given that, distance between alice and tree 7.2 m, number of cycles = 28, time duration = 5.0 s.

Now, frequency f = 28 / 5.0 s = 5.6 Hz. Here, frequency means number of oscillation in one second.

From the diagram, the distance d = 7.2 m is equals to the one and half of the wavelength i.e., d = 1.5 . From this. wavelength = 7.2 m/1.5 = 4.8 m.

From the diagram, amplitude A = 0.6 m/ 2 = 0.3 m.

and speed v = f . = (5.6 Hz) (4.8 m) = 26.8 m/s.

This is the diagram for the above question.
