From the formula for the beat frequency:

discuss whether planets that are closer to Earth or farther away from Earth will have a longer time between alignments. Also, is there a minimum time? If so, which planet would have the most times it would align with Earth?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The beat frequency formula is:

If, the planet is close to the Earth, the beat frequency would be less in magnitude, because the Earth and planet will come to their mean position must faster, compared to the planet which is far.
Therefore, if the beat frequency is less, it signifies that the planet and Earth is closer and if beat frequency value (magnitude) is large, than the planet and Earth is far from each other.

The minimum time can be determined by the formula , using the f_beats value of nearest planet.

the farthest planet would take maximum times to be in alignment with Earth, i.e. Neptune

The stars, gas and dust in a galaxy rotate about the center of the galaxy. We would like to know exactly how to describe the rotation of all parts of the galaxy. In other words, we want to know if galaxies rotate like merry-go-rounds, or like planets orbit the Sun, or in some other way. 1. Do points near the center of a merry-go-round complete a full rotation in the same amount of time as points near the outer edge...

Stationary planets “A” and “B”, each with mass 1024 kg, are located 106 m away from each other in the horizontal direction (x). Space capsule “C” with a mass of 1000 kg starts at rest 106 m from both “A” and “B”, so the three objects form an equilateral triangle. Assume that “A” and “B” have a fixed position and cannot move, while “C” is able to move freely. What is the net gravitational force vector on “C” at time...

Please give these THREE problems step by step approach to solving 1) A 30 g steel ball is released from rest and falls vertically into a steel plate. The ball strikes the plate and is in contact with it for 0.5 ms. The ball rebounds elasticity, and returns to its original height. The time interval for a round trip is 4.00 s. In this situation, the average force exerted on the ball during contact wth the plate is closest to:...

consider whether one process would result in more accuracy than another and discuss why.in the example below. In order to have accurate top-down estimation, historical information must be used, which points to analogous estimating. Using a previous projects actual costs, an estimation using top-down may be done quickly and accurately if the projects are similar. However, estimates will not be accurate if two projects are not similar or only appeared to be similar, but this is an easy way to...

SOME DRAWBACK OF BLACK-SCHOLES Briefly discuss here some difficulties associated with the Black Scholes formula, which is widely used to calculate the price of an option. For example, consider a European call option for a stock. This is the right to buy a specific number of shares of a specific stock on a specific date in the future, at a specific price (the exercise price, also called the strike price). If all these quantities are fixed, the question becomes: what...
