1. Speed of light Calculation (Simple Scientific Notation)

Use the formula below to calculate the speed of the light C,

C = (µ0ε0)-1/2   = 1 /(µ0ε0)1/2   ;

Where ( )1/2   is the square root, µ0 = 4π x 10-7 T. m/A, and ε0 = 8.854 x 10-12 C2/N.m2 .

2. The frequency of the Greenlight is 1015 Hz. Calculate its period T (time), its wavelength, and its energy in Joules and in electron volts, (eV). ) if 1 eV = 1.60x10-19 J.

3. Find the speed of light, its wavelength and its frequency in water (n = 1.333), and in diamond (n = 2.419) if the light travels from the air (n =1) into the medium. Draw the system. Do the wavelength, the speed, and the frequency change from the air to water?

  4. Determine the angle of reflection and refraction if the light travels from the air (n =1) into water.
