exhausts in a room at ambient conditions (i.e., pb = 1atm).
a) Calculate the plenum pressure necessary to choke the flow at the
throat but not allowing for a supersonic solution to be established
in the divergent section. (20pts)
b) Calculate the plenum pressure necessary to allow for a fully supersonic solution throughout the divergent section assuming that a normal shock is located just at the exit of the nozzle. (25pts)
c) Calculate the plenum pressure necessary to operate the nozzle as perfectly expanded. (15pts)
d) Calculate the Mach number and the pressure at the exit
section of the nozzle if it is operated with a plenum pressure of
2atm (note that if the solution admits a normal shock in the
divergent section, you must calculate its location to provide your
answer using at least three iterations). (40pts)
