Suppose you were to drop the aluminum block in air. It “sinks”
to the floor. The density of air at sea level and at 59 degrees
Fahrenheit = 15 degrees Celsius is about 1
kg/m3 . So what is the weight of the air displaced by
the block? I.e. what is the buoyancy force acting on the block? How
does this compare to the weight of the block?
Weight of block is 64.3g.
This question can be explained in the basis of Archimede's principle. By this principle
weight of the floating solid = weight of the liquid displaced.
Here we have to find out the weight of air displaced. So it is equal to the weight of the floating solid here the aluminium block is fully immersed in the fluid ie , in the air so the weight of aluminium block is equal to the air displaced ie,
Weight of air displaced = 64.3 g = 64.3×10^-3 kg. Which is equal to the buoyant force acting on the block.
Hope you ok with this and thank you
