Explain, what is an isothermal process?
a) Write the form of corresponding equation
b) Show it in different gas diagrams : PV, PT and VT

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Answer: Isothermal Process: It is a process in which a system undergoes changes at a constant temperature. During an isothermal process, for an ideal gas, change in internal energy is zero as temperature is constant.

Thus, Q = W ( Isothermal Process)

For an ideal gas, PV = constant.

For an ideal gas, work done during an isothemal process is

W = nRT ln[(V2/V1)]

and W = nRT ln[(P1/P2)]
