suppose there exists a third type of charge in addition to the two types we associate with glass and plastic .Call this third Type X charge. what experiment could you use to test whether an object has X charge? State clearly how the outcome of the experiment would be interpreted.

Answer #1

Experiment with a electroscope can detect the charge X.

In electroscope the foils are used. When a charged object is brought near the metal plate connected to the foils, the charge moves through the metal to the foils and both foil have same charge on the surface and so repel each other and move apart. This happens since a charged object is brought near and uncharged object and so the charged object induce some charge on the surface of uncharged material.

If X charged object is brought near the metal plate, and foils move apart will indicate that object has the charge X.

I hope this helps!

You are a profit-maximizing firm. Suppose you face two types of customers: CHICH and CALM. There are 3 people of CHIC type and 8 people of CALM type. These customers shop in your specialty clothing store. Consumers of CHICH type are willing to pay $200 for a coat and $50 for a pair of pants. Consumers of CALM type are willing to pay $100 for a coat and $75 for a pair of pants. Your firm faces no competition but...

For the following two situations, we consider Ebay auctions of an activity tracker wristband called the Fitbit Charge. The outcome variable of interest is the total sale price of the Fitbit Charge at auction, which is the highest bid plus the shipping cost. Assume we have a dataset from a sample of 50 Fitbit Charge auctions including the following information: total Ebay sale price of the item in dollars (Price), whether the item was used or new (Condition), and length...

PLEASE WRITE IN BOLD LETTERS THANKS Suppose the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) wants to examine the safety of compact cars, midsize cars, and full-size cars. It collects a sample of three of the treatments (car types). Test whether the mean pressure applied to the driver’s head during a crash test is equal for each type of car. To answer the question, we can set it up as a hypothesis testing problem and use the data collected to answer it....

22. A Dugger type family (family with 20 kids) has two thirds of their boys suffering from muscu-lar dystrophy. One third of the boys were sporadic and not necessarily genetic. One of the chil-dren gets married and has a son with muscular dystrophy; they would like to have more children, but are worried about the risk of having another affected son, especially after the woman's family is so afflicted. As a geneticist you need to determine whether this is a...

Research is an integral part of all professional fields. Designing a research study can be a complicated task that can be simplified if the appropriate techniques can be identified. This assignment will give you the opportunity to design an experiment, including finding relevant prior research, determining the appropriate sample, data analysis techniques, and discuss the results you hope to see. Working from the topic chosen earlier in the topic selection, you will be designing your own statistical study. In a...

Allows management to focus on value-added and non-value-added activities, so that non-value-added activities can be controlled or eliminated, thus streamlining production processes. Highlights the relationship between activities and identifies opportunities to reduce costs (i.e., designing products with fewer parts in order to reduce the cost of the manufacturing process). Provides management with reports that are...
