the weight of 90 m3 of water in the Pacific at a great depth is 900000 N, what is the pressure at this depth if the specific gravity on the surface is 0.99

Homework Answers

Answer #1

WE KNOW PRESSURE= FORCE /AREA

                DENSITY OF SURFACE * g * HEIGHT = FORCE/AREA

                ie height = FORCE/(AREA * HEIGHT*g* density of surface)

                            = 9*10^5/(90*10*1000*.99)

                        h= 1.01m

ie pressure   = .99*1000*10*1.01

                   =9999N/m^2

At a certain depth Y in a fluid body, the pressure reads 71.6 MPa. The change in volume from the fluid surface to the depth Y is - 2.3 ×10-5 m3. Given an average bulk modulus elasticity of 2.34 GPa, taking mass as per kg (1 kg), compute: i) the specific weight of the fluid at the surface. ii) the specific volume at depth Y.
