Question

With two measurements it is possible to obtain two unknowns. Consider the case of a ball dropped vertically from heights h1 and h2. Measure the vertical heights to which the ball rebounds from the floor: hr1 and hr2 respectively. Now from the two set of data D1= (h1, hr1) and D2 = (h2, hr2) deduce the following two constants: 1. the coefficient of restitution of the ball and, 2. the air drag coefficient of the ball. Assume the coefficients remain independent of the heights h1 and h2.
