hey! can you please show detailed work? Im struggling on these and cant seem to see where im wrong.

a) One cubic centimeter (1.0 cm3) of water has a mass of 1.0 ✕ 10-3 kg. Determine the mass of 1.0 m3 of water. Assuming that biological substances are 98% water, estimate the masses of a cell with a diameter of 0.5 µm, a human kidney, and a fly. Take a kidney to be roughly a sphere with a radius of 4.1 cm and a fly to be roughly a cylinder 3.3 mm long and 2.9 mm in diameter. What are the masses in kg, of a cell, kidney, and a fly?

b) A point is located in a polar coordinate system by the coordinates r = 2.0 m and θ = 20°. Find the x and y coordinates of this point, assuming the two coordinate systems have the same origin.
x=? y=?

Answer #1

Given data:

Mass of    = Density

Mass of 1 m^3 Water is

1 m = 100 cm     then

Then mass of 1 m^3 water is

Now Biological substance are made up of 98% water

Cell of diameter = 0.5 µm = 0.5*100= 50 µcm

Now

Mass of cell = Volume * Density

Mass of kideny =

Mass of fly

1 mm = 0.1 cm3

Radius = 0.5*diameter

Part (B)
