A person who has astigmatism has a vision issue because their eye’s lens is inconsistent in shape and refracting properties from one side of the lens to the opposite side (e.g. top to bottom and/or left to right). Explain why that would cause the person not to have clear vision
A person suffering from astigmatism has a vision issue because their eye lens is inconsistent in shape and refracting properties from one side of the lens to the opposite side.
Now since the shape (generally the curve ) of the eye lens changes and hence the focal length and radius of the lens is changed. Now when rays of light fall on this eye lens , it is not able to properly focus the rays of light at the screen of eye that is RETINA. Also, the ciliary muscles are not able to adjust the focal length of astigmatism affected eye lens and hence a person has blurred vision due to improper focussing of light on the retina.
