at the bottom of a dip in a road, a person feels the seat beneath them pressing upward with a force equal to AW, where W is the persons weight. If radius of curvature of the dip is 58.3 m and the car is traveling at 20.5 m/s . What is A?

Answer #1

___________________________

R = 58.3 m

v = 20.5 m/s

___________________________

At the bottom of the hill : The force acting on the person will be given as : Fnet = FN - W = FC

∴ FN - W = m v2 / R

∴ AW - W = m v2 / R

∴ W (A - 1) = m v2 / R

∴ m g (A - 1) = m v2 / R

∴ g (A - 1) = v2 / R

∴ (9.81 m/s2)(A - 1) = (20.5 m/s)2 / (58.3 m)

∴ (A - 1) = 0.736

∴ A = 1.74
