The builders of the pyramids used a long ramp to lift 21000-kg (21.0-ton) blocks. If a block rose 0.930 m in height while traveling 18.0 m along the ramp’s surface, how much uphill force was needed to push it up the ramp at constant velocity? Use g=9.81 m/s2.
Given information :-
The builders of pyramid used a long ramp to lift m= 21000 kg block to upto some distance(d) at certain height (h) as shown in figure below
Mass of a block (m) = 21000 kg
Travelled distance along ramp surface (d) = 18 m
Block rose to certain height (h) =0.93 m
(given g = 9.81 m/s2)
Formulae :-
Only Uphill force(F) required to push along ramp surface is
F = mg*sin
{ Here sin= Opposite (h)/hypotenuse(d) }
{ Sin = 0.93/18 }
Substitute all values in above formula
F = 21000*9.81*(0.93/18)
F = 10643.85 N
Hence the uphill force(F)is push along ramp surface at constant velocity is F=10643.85 N.
