There are identical capacitors with capacitance C1C1 and several others with capacitance C2C2. The values of C1C1 and C2C2 must be defined but  C1C1 and C2C2 are not accessible individually. Instead, there is a network with C1C1 and C2C2 connected in series and a network with C1C1 and C2C2 connected in parallel. Futhermore, There is  a 180.0-VV battery. The total energy supplied by the battery can be measured when it is connected to the network by using instruments. When the parallel combination is connected to the battery, 0.195 JJ of energy is stored in the network. When the series combination is connected, 0.0400 JJ of energy is stored. it is declared that C1C1 is greater than C2C2.

a)Calculate C1.

b)Calculate C2.

Now let’s look at a specific problem involving series and parallel combinations of capacitors. Two capacitors, one with C1=6.0μF and the other with C2=3.0μF, are connected to a potential difference of Vab=18V. Find the equivalent capacitance, and find the charge and potential difference for each capacitor when the two capacitors are connected (a) in series and (b) in parallel. PART A: Repeat this example for  Vab=18V and C1=C2=10μF. What is the equivalent capacitance for the capacitors when they are connected in...

Two capacitors, one that has a capacitance of 7 µF and one that has a capacitance of 21 µF are first discharged and then are connected in series. The series combination is then connected across the terminals of a 13-V battery. Next, they are carefully disconnected so that they are not discharged, and they are then reconnected to each other--positive plate to positive plate and negative plate to negative plate. A battery is connected purely in parallel to three capacitors of C1 = 6 micro-farads, C2 = 9 micro-farads, and C3 = 11 micro-farads. Then, one additional capacitor of 8 micro-farads is added in parallel to the other three capacitors and due to this, the total stored energy of all the capacitors increases by 196 micro-joules (it is 196 micro-joules larger with four capacitors compared to with three capacitors). Then, the same four capacitors are connected in SERIES to the...
