Two speakers are located at two on an unknown triangle with an observer located at the geometric center. You do not know either the sides nor angles, so you attach pipes that are open at both ends from each speaker to the center of the triangle. One pipe has a 4th harmonic standing wave frequency of 300 Hz, and one pipe has a 5th harmonic standing of 400 Hz. What frequency can the speakers be playing for the observer to hear no sound? Use the n=0 case for destructive interference. The speed of sound is 343 m/s.

Two loudspeakers are placed at either end of a gymnasium, both pointing toward the center of the gym and equidistant from it. The speakers emit 276 Hz sound that is in phase. An observer at the center of the gym experiences constructive interference. Part A How far toward either speaker must the observer walk to first experience destructive interference?

Two speakers are separated by a distance of 2.3m. A point P is placed at 4.7m from one of the speakers so that they form a right triangle. If the speed of sound in this situation is 344m/s and the speakers are in phase, what is the lowest frequency for which the intensity at P is: a) a maximum?   b) a minimum? The 2nd harmonic of a string of length 45cm and linear mass density 2.6g/m has the same frequency as the 5th possible harmonic of a closed pipe of length 1.4m. Find...

Two speakers that are 15m apart produce in phase sound waves of frequency 250Hz in a room where the speed of sound is 340m/s. A woman starts out at the midpoint between the two speakers . The room's walls and ceiling are covered with absorbers to eliminate reflections, and she listens with only one ear for best precision. (a) What does she hear: constructive or destructive interference? (b) she now walks slowly toward one of the speakers. How far from...

PLEASE SHOW ALL WORK AND EXPLAIN!!! THANKS!!! 5. Two large speakers face each other.  They are 100m apart and each are sounding the same note. Standing midway between the speakers you do nothear a sound.  You start to walk towards one of the speakers at speed of 2m/sec.  The sounds start to increase and is the loudest when you've moved 75cm from your starting point.       a. What is the note the speakers are playing?       b. As you continue to walk, what is the...

You are standing at the midpoint between two speakers, a distance D away from each. The speakers are playing the exact same sound of frequency 170 Hz in phase with each other. Describe what happens when you walk 1 m directly toward one of the speakers. Assume the speed of sound is 340 m/s. Also assume you can't hear any sounds except those produced by the speakers. You begin by hearing nothing, but the sound gets louder. Then it gets...

Please show all your work. A source of sound is located in a room a distance “L” from a wall. The room temperature is 72°F. AN observer is located between the source and the wall at 103 cm from the wall. The observer can hear a loud sound at the 3rd harmonic and the sound fades at the 4th harmonic. What is the velocity of sound in the room? What is the frequency at which the observer can hear the...

11. A simple pendulum undergoes small-angle oscillations. Which of the following pairs (mass, string length) will oscillate with a period greater than 2.2 seconds? a) (0.50 kg, 1.0 m) b) (0.40 kg, 0.80 m) c) (1.0 kg, 0.50 m) d) (0.80 kg, 0.40 m) e) none of the above answers are correct (numbers 15-17) An ideal horizontal spring-mass system begins oscillation with the mass at x=0 (the spring is relaxed) and moving in the -x direction at 6.00 m/s.
