Question

State Newton’s first, second, and third law of angular motion

State Newton’s first, second, and third law of angular motion

Homework Answers

Answer #1

newton's laws in angular motion

1st law= clearly states that a body will not start to revolve from rest or will not stop from revolving but will continue to be in its state of rest or uniform angular motion, until or unless acted upon by an external torque

2nd law= basically states that net torque applied on a body is equal to the rate of change of angular momentum of the body.

3rd law

if one body applies a torque on another body, then another body applies an equal and opposite(in direction ) torque to the first body

so in conclusion

net force is replaced by net torque

momentum is replaced by angular momentum

and speed by angular speed

a) Use Newton’s second law to set up an equation that describes the motion of a mass moving horizontally under the influence of a linear spring force. Neglect air resistance and friction. Solve your equation to obtain expressions for the object’s position, velocity and acceleration as functions of time. Obtain an expression for the angular frequency of the oscillation. Clearly define all quantities you need to do this. b) Repeat a) using energy ideas.
