Answer #1

(a) Suppose your home is at origin (0,0) . Your class us at (2.1 km, 5.8 km). All roads are along either X-axis or Y-axis. You have to walk this distance at a speed 1.5 m/s. Your displacement is and The distance travelled is 7.9 km.

An arrow straight from origin to class willl be the displacement.

A pair of lines

1. from origin to ( 2.1km,0km ) along the X-axis

2. from ( 2.1km ,0km ) to (2.1 km , 5.8 km) along the Y-axis

will indicate the distance travelled.

(b) time needed t = 7900 / 1.5 = 5267 s

An experiment you're designing needs a gas with gamma = 1.66. You recall from your physics class that no individual gas has this value, but it occurs to you that you could produce a gas with gamma = 1.66 by mixing together a monatomic gas and a diatomic gas. What fraction of the molecules need to be monatomic? I'm mostly confused on where they ask for the "fraction of the molecules." This question being answered with percentages but I still...
