A projectile is thrown horizontally at 11.2 m/s. The projectile hits the ground 0.533 s later. What is the angle of impact the projectile makes with the horizontal ground?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Using Vf = Vi + gt

Where Vf is the final vertical velocity

Vi is the initial vertical velocity

g is the acceleration due to gravity.

t is the time taken

Therefore, Vf = 0 + (9.8×0.533)

Vf = 5.2234 m/s

Therefore, the angle of impact = inverse Tan(5.2234/11.2)

= Inverse Tan(0.466375)

= 25 ° below the horizontal.

Answer = 25 degrees below the horizontal.
