The coriolis effect describes the path of deflection taken by objects not firmly connected to the ground as they travel long distances around earth or any planet at high speeds.

At northern hemisphere objects deflects towards right whereas they deflect towards left in southern hemisphere.

Coriolis effect is dependent on velocity i.e on planet velocity and velocity of the objects.

Depending on sense of rotation of interplanetary satellites they may move downward or upward.

Most of satellites are launched as close to the equator as possible, which enables them to get a good running start in their eastward orbits.
