In determining the number of images formed between the two plane mirrors placed at an angle Θ, what happens when the angle is greater than 180? What are the limitations of the angle Θ then?

Answer #1

When 2 mirrors are inclined at an angle , no of images formed will be given by the formula :

Thus if is greater than 180degrees, then no of images will be just [360/(>180) -1]

as no of images cant be a fraction thus no. of images will be 1.99 - 1

Thus, no image is formed.

So, limit on angle between reflecting surfaces of mirrors is 180degrees, which means if they form single mirror, they will for 360/180 -1 i.e just 1One image, which is obvious.
No, image is formed at angle greater than 180 degrees.
