HURRY! ONLY 40 MINUTES

I have a cube 10 cm on a side. It floats in water with 40% of its volume above water. What is the density of the cube? Show your work.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Fraction of volume inside water = (100-60) =40%

Volume of cube =; = 1000

Volume of Displacement of water = 40% of 1000= 400

For floating,

Buoyant force = weight of cube

0.40

= 400

(Note: is density and for water 1 , g is acceleration due to gravity )
