Imagine you are standing in the center of a wide, open field. Where the land and sky meet as far as you can see in any direction is the horizon . If we were to simplify your view, what shape would best represent the full horizon ? Where would you be standing relative to the shape ? Sketch and describe your answer below.

Answer #1

well the experience is something like standing on a flat plain which is surrounded by a half-spherical shell in our common sense we see the horizon as an apparent line that separates earth from the sky but scientifically the horizon is a theoretical line, the true horizon is horizontal and basically it surrounds the observer

the distance to the true horizon from the observer is

d=3.57sqrt(h)

h=the height above sea level

Sketch a portion of an EMR wave showing the electric field in the vertical direction along a spatial horizontal axis. Label the axes, try to show at least two wavelengths, and point out what is meant by the ‘wavelength’. EMR can have a very wide range of wavelengths. As you may already know, different types of electromagnetic waves have been defined based on their wavelength ranges. Now, try to imagine what the wave might look like if you were able...

If the earth is a perfect sphere, spinning with angular velocity, Ω. You are standing on the surface of the earth, at the latitude of New York, and you drop a rock. If you draw a line from the rock to the center of the earth, it would intersect the ground at a point X. a) What are the forces on the rock, in your rotating reference frame, at the instant you let go of the rock, but before it...
