The horizontal velocity of an object is measured as 12 m/s. There is no horizontal accelerationWhat is the horizontal velocity of the object after it travels 10m (in m/s) ?

Answer #1

HORIZONTAL ACCELERATION GIVEN = 0

Horizontal velocity = 12m/s

If acceleration is zero in horizontal direction then there will we no change in velcoity after covering 10 m in horizontal direction beacause if you apply equation of motion

(V^2) = U^2 + 2as. In X direction

Here a = 0 therefore v= u

This is the case of projectile in which horizontal acceleration is always zero but it has vertical acceleration i.e g downwards so net velocity changes accordingly as vertical component velocity increase or decreases but no effect on horizontal velocity.
