A straight wire with a length of 30 cm carries a current of 7A. The wire is oriented perdendicular to a magnetic filed of 0.5 T. What is the size of the magnetic force exerted on the wire? Show calculation.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Length L = 30 cm = 0.3 m

Current i = 7 A

Magnetic field B = 0.5 T

Magnetic force exerted onn the wire F = BiL sin 90

                                                       = 0.5 x 7 x0.3 x 1

                                                      = 1.05 N
