The outer electron configuration of neutral germanium in its ground state is listed in a textbook as 4s2 4p2. Is this information correct ? someone argues against this configuration starting that the p-states hold six electrons. Thus, the p-states in germanium and therefore the valence band are only partially filled. who is right ?
